This summer, CUP collaborated with Teaching Artist Ro Garrido and students from the Red Hook Community Justice Center to investigate how Conspiracy Laws are used to police youth and charge them with “gang involvement” based on who they know.

Students surveyed members of their community, interviewed stakeholders working on the issue, and made a teaching tool with designer Marcela Szwarc to show what they learned.

Join us for two FREE events to celebrate their work and hear from the students!

Friday, October 4th, 7:30pm
Mayday Space
At this special event, students will present their findings, followed by a free screening of the documentary film Raided. The screening starts at 7:30 pm with a Q&A with filmmaker Simon Davis-Cohen. Click here for more info!

Thursday, October 10th, 6pm
Red Hook Community Justice Center
Students will debut their final project investigating how the NYPD uses Conspiracy Laws to police youth. Everyone who attends will get a FREE copy of Swept Up!, a teaching tool that looks the issue from all sides. Email RSVP@welcometocup.org to reserve your spot!
