Land Use Workshop on Governors Island

Land Use Workshop on Governors Island

What is ULURP? ULURP may sound like a monster (and some people think it is), but it stands for Uniform Land Use Review Procedure and it’s the process by which major land use changes get reviewed and approved in New York City. It’s long and complicated, making it difficult for communities to understand how they can have a say in the land use decisions that impact their neighborhoods. CUP is currently developing a new Land Use Toolkit to help communities understand this process.

As part of CUP’s participation in the Spontaneous Interventions exhibition on Governors Island this summer, we invite you to attend What Is ULURP? a hands-on workshop to learn about the city’s land-use review procedure, the players involved, and the role you can play in decision-making. Come give us feedback on the preliminary version of the workshop, and help us make our toolkit the best resource possible! And while you’re there, enjoy all the activities, food, and fun that Governors Island has to offer!

Saturday, August 23rd
1:15-2:15 pm
Building 403
Colonel’s Row
Governors Island

Limited to 30 participants.
Free! RSVP is required. Please RSVP to mark@welcometocup.org
.

There is a $2 fee for a round trip ferry ride to Governors Island. On Saturdays, ferries run from Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier 6. To attend the workshop, take the 12 pm ferry from either location.
