Meet the Jury! 2019 CUP Fellowship for Change in Design

Meet the Jury! 2019 CUP Fellowship for Change in Design

We pulled together an all-star group of jurors to help us select our next CUP Fellow for Change in Design! This year we are joined by Nicole Killian and Juan Carlos Pagan.

Nicole Killian’s work investigates how the structures of the internet, mobile messaging, and shared online platforms affect contemporary interaction and shape cultural identity from a queer perspective. She is interested in the repetition, looping, and dissemination of content. Her practice, as well as her publishing initiative Nico Fontana, is concerned with a queering of language, objects, bodies and spaces. She is currently co-director of the Design, Visual Communications MFA and Assistant Professor in the Department of Graphic Design at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Juan Carlos Pagan is a New York based Designer and Typographer. He received his BFA from Parsons School of Design, and completed his postgraduate studies in typeface design at The Cooper Union. Juan has been honored for his work by The Type Directors Club, Communication Arts, The ADC, One Show, Graphis, Cannes Lions, Clios, Fastco, and Print Magazine among others.
