“Talking Trash: Throwing Out the Big Apple” Debut Presentation

"Talking Trash: Throwing Out the Big Apple" Debut Presentation

On July 11th, 2016 students from Francis Perkins Academy presented "Talking Trash: Throwing Out the Big Apple."

Students from Francis Perkins Academy collaborated with CUP to examine New York City’s garbage infrastructure. To investigate, students got out of the classroom and into the complicated world of garbage, visiting sites like a local waste transfer station and a recycling facility. They interviewed key decision makers including a private waste carrier, an environmental activist, a Department of Sanittaion staff member, and the Chair of the City Council Sanitation Committee. Students debuted the documentary-style video and presented on the creative process at the Wythe Hotel Screening Room.
